Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim features an enormous cast of memorable characters. The following are just some of these individuals; players will meet many more over the course of their journey!
"Adol the Red" – the world’s most famous adventurer, having penned thousands of volumes of travelogue detailing his exploits across the globe. Each time, he winds up saving the world, getting the girl, then promptly shipping off for new lands and new adventure – usually with his best pal, Dogi, right by his side.
The Rehda chief’s niece and official Priestess of Alma. Olha is the one who nurses Adol back to health after he’s found beached on the shore of Quatera Island in the Vortex of Canaan. Pleasant and open-minded, she’s one of the few Rehda who doesn’t innately distrust humans. Though generally docile, she’s always ready for action if the situation calls for it, and her skill with the bow is unmatched.
Olha’s younger sister. Though she typically takes after Olha in most regards, she’s prone to seeing visions of the future, and the visions she sees upon Adol’s arrival have clearly shaken her to her core. As a result, she’s very skittish around him, generally seizing up or running whenever he approaches. There seems to be more to Isha than meets the eye, but it’s hard keeping her in one place long enough to find out for sure.
The designated leader of the entire Rehda tribe. As such, he considers the safety of the townsfolk and the preservation of Canaan’s history to be his personal responsibility. Although officially welcoming of Adol (on his niece’s insistence), Chief Ord unofficially is more distrustful of "Eresians" than anyone, and wants Adol out of his village as soon as possible. However, it is possible to curry favor with the chief, and those who gain his respect will retain it for life.
A mysterious man in black wielding an enormous halberd. Where he comes from is a mystery, but Adol keeps on running into him in the unlikeliest of places, and is met with largely the same greeting each time: "Keep your nose out of my business." It’s unclear whether Geis is a friend or foe.
"Dogi the Wall-Crusher" – Adol’s right hand man, known far and wide for his ability to bust down walls with his bare hands (or shoulders). Hails from the town of Redmont in the land of Felghana, and recently rejoined Adol on his adventures after separating from him for a time to help get things back on track in his homeland following the events of Ys: The Oath in Felghana.
A former thief girl whom Adol met three years ago in the north Afrocan region of Xandria during the events of Ys V: Lost Kefin, Capital of Sand. Precocious and impulsive, Terra developed a little bit of a crush on Adol during that previous encounter and told him to wait for her, assuring him that she’d "mature into a fine young woman" before their next meeting. She seems to think she’s remained true to her word, though the jury’s still out on how accurate an assessment that may be.
Terra’s father. Captain of the "Tres Mares," a fairly accomplished pirate ship with a loyal crew, Ladoc is now seeking the ultimate forbidden treasure to cement his reputation once and for all: a way inside the fabled "Vortex of Canaan" far to the west of Europe. The entire naval fleet of Romn seeks the same goal, however, and they’re not exactly fans of piracy in the first place, so he’s got his work cut out for him. But if anyone can help get him where he wants to go (and outwit the Romuns along the way), it’s the world’s foremost adventurer, Adol the Red... right?
A merchant from the north Afrocan city of Altago (where Ys SEVEN begins). Baslam got shipwrecked in Canaan ten years ago, and has been proactively striving to build a comfortable settlement for other unfortunate souls ever since. Although he’s made some questionable decisions in his time (not the least of which was scrapping old Rehdan ruins for materials to build houses), his motives are mostly pure and only partially driven by profit – honest!
Although the other settlers in Rimorge originally hail from Eresia, Baslam does not, so he takes it rather personally when the Rehda call him "Eresian."
The noble commander in charge of the Romun naval fleet. Agares has dreams of admittance into the senate, and is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. His adjutant, Ernst, has convinced him that the Vortex of Canaan holds the glory he seeks, and he’s so convinced that this is true, he’s committed virtually the entire might of the empire to the task of finding a way in.
An up-and-coming commander in the Romun fleet, highly regarded for his loyalty and coolness under pressure. Ernst seems to be the man responsible for ordering the attack on the Tres Mares, and is also the one advising Admiral Agares to find safe passage into the Vortex of Canaan – though his reasons for this remain unknown.
